Staying Connected and Informed
In 2024, parent and community feedback confirmed that traditional newsletters were no longer the preferred way to stay informed. As a result, Bororen State School now shares updates via our official Facebook page and letters sent home with students, ensuring communication remains timely, accessible, and aligned with family preferences.
Communication Between School & Parents
We prioritise open and transparent communication with families. Below are the ways we keep parents informed:

- Term Calendars - Distributed at the start of each Term with key dates and activities.
- School Webpage - Includes general information along with key dates and activities

Mobile Phones & Devices – 'Away for the Day'
To support focused learning and student wellbeing, Bororen State School follows the Queensland Department of Education's 'Away for the Day' policy . This means:
- Phones must be switched off and handed in at the office before school starts.
- Devices are securely stored and returned at the end of the school day.
- Smartwatches and similar devices can be worn but must have notifications disabled during school hours.
- Students needing to contact home during school hours can use the school office phone.

By adhering to this policy, we aim to create a safe, respectful, and distraction-free environment for all students.
Respecting Staff Time and Professional Boundaries
As part of Education Queensland's commitment to staff wellbeing, our school supports clear expectations around communication and respectful interactions. We kindly ask parents and carers to be mindful of the following:
- Staff are not expected to respond to communication outside of work hours, including evenings, weekends, school and public holidays.
- School-related communication should not occur through personal social media accounts. Please use official school channels such as the school phone number, email, or school app.
- Teachers' personal contact details, such as mobile phone numbers or private email addresses, should not be used for school matters.
- If you see staff members in the community, we ask that you respect their personal time. School-related conversations are best held during school hours.
- To speak with a staff member, please book an appointment through the school office. Drop-ins during teaching time or breaks are often not possible.
- The safety of our school community is a priority. Aggressive or harassing behaviour towards staff or students will not be tolerated, and may result in restricted access to the school grounds.
Thank you for supporting a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all members of our school community.
